The One Champ, Two Brands Concept

By Scott Keith on 25 October 2018

With everything that happened on Monday, with Roman forfeiting the title and the Shield breakup, is there a case to be made for going back to the original brand split model of one World Champ and one set of Tag Champs? Maybe even pull the trigger on Becky/Ronda unifying at Survivor Series?

Also, what was the story behind moving away from that model originally? Was it bad for business, or was it just that the roster was extra swollen so more belts were needed?

Keep up the great work

I’d be fine with going back to that again. The story goes that originally HHH was going to win the IC title in 2002 and be the top RAW guy with that belt, and they’d remake the US title for Smackdown and then have Brock as main floating champion. And then HHH decided that people just wouldn’t buy the IC belt as the main one, so he became World champion instead and the rest is history.
