Tito Santana Question

Hey Scott, hope all is well and you and yours are having a happy new year! I was reading an interview with Tito Santana where he mentioned he was in line for a title run, with the El Matador gimmick. Is this true? I always felt Tito was under appreciated as a worker and I could have seen a transitional reign with the belt. I actually liked when Tito and Backlund teamed up in the 90s for a short time.
Didn't you know? EVERY wrestler from the 80s was "in line for a title run" until politics or injury or other circumstances unjustly robbed them of it. Just ask them!
