Why Waltman?

By Scott Keith on 9 July 2017

Scott,

Why specifically was Sean Waltman chosen for the elevated jobber role in 1993? Was he already friendly with Michaels and Hall or did that evolve later? Was he always set for an instant push or was the Razor match a last minute call? Also, why did Hall do the job?

Sean Waltman was a huge rising star on the indies and Vince had wanted to sign him for a while, so that’s why he was promised the push upon coming in. It was always happening. The Clique thing came later, and Hall was the one chosen to do the job because he was turning anyway and that gave him a reason, plus the feeling has always been that if you’re turning it doesn’t matter if you do a bunch of jobs.
