Least over champion

Hey Scott,
So far this year, the smackdown champ has switched hands 5x from a guy who was more over to a guy that was less over. Plus the champ hasn’t even successfully defended the title on a ppv this year.
The two midcard title holders and challengers are more over than the smackdown champion.
Has a title ever gone this downhill so far so fast?
