Hogging the Torch

The changeover from Hulkamania into the Bret/Shawn New Generation that’s starting to creep in to the Observers made me wonder: from Hogan, Bret, Shawn, Austin, Nash, HHH, Cena; has there ever been a guy who hasn’t youthfully complained about an older generation refusing to pass the torch (read: belts) then 5 or 10 years down the line they themselves do the exact same thing and hold onto the top spot for dear life? Or has modern day 50/50 booking effectively eliminated that altogether since as you say, no one is really a next-level generational star anymore?
