1996 Southern Invasion

Feel free to smark out and kill this shitty fantasy booking scenario…In 1996 when the Outsiders invade WCW "from up North," what if Vince immediately ran his own invasion angle with the the most well known WCW wrestlers he had on the roster:

Some combination or all of Mic Foley, Vader, Steve Austin, Brian Pillman, Ron Simmons and Marc Mero.

As a heel faction they at least could have spiced up Shawn Michaels title run? And 1996 was really when Vince started experimenting with worked shoots so this could have straddled that line?


​I think it was a bit too early for them to try something like that, as far as who was running creative, but there was definitely hints of it happening when JR did the heel turn with fake Razor and Diesel, and the implication was that Jim had been secretly bringing people over from WCW for his army or something. The whole thing of course got dropped like a hot potato within milliseconds, but they might have went there. ​
