Independent contractors vs. employees

the factors listed are used when the work relationship is ambiguous – like for fruit pickers or business consultants or something.

wrestlers sign contracts that clearly stated they’re independent contractors rather than employees. end of story.

if there’s any doubt, replace NHL or NFL with WWE. Nobody in their right mind considers those guys "employees".

There’s also 30 different teams that someone can sign with in either the NFL or NHL. Plus a union. So I don’t think it’s apples-to-apples at all.
