Ted Dibiase as chamion

If they had kept to their original plan for WMIV and had Dibiase win the title instead, I’m assuming he would only be a short-term champion, losing the title to Savage at Summerslam? That way they can start the whole Megapowers angle there which lead to their WM V event.

Also, has Dibiase ever publicly stated how he felt about that whole situation?

​Yeah, he’s talked about it in interviews before, and basically said he was bummed but understood and got a big payday out of it anyway. And yes, my assumption is that he would lose it at Summerslam because the end goal was always Hogan v. Savage at WM5. They certainly weren’t going with a heel champion during the height of the 80s.​
