NXT Jobbers

Just watched NXT: Respect and was kinda shocked at how bad Dana Brooke was jobbed all to hell, considering how strong she came in. In retrospect, though, it seems kinda par for the course in the world of NXT. Mojo Rawley gets a strong push, then is subsequently jobbed out to Bull Dempsey and Tyler Breeze. Bull, in turn, is jobbed out to Breeze (who gets jobbed out to Apollo Crews) and Baron Corbin.

I’m not even talking about the strange booking that occurs once an NXT wrestlers goes to WWE (Paige, Owens, etc…) It just seems like NXT treats some of these wrestlers like toys that it gets really excited about one moment then tosses aside when Buzz Lightyear comes along.

How does this work? Does, say Dana Brooke come in with the understanding that she’s only ever going to reach NXT JTTS status? Does NXT just push whoever they have at the moment and then violently change course whenever a newer and better wrestler comes along?

Thoughts?

​It’s developmental. People try on different hats and then switch for other ones until they find something that works. It’s kind of a weird dynamic compared to what you usually see on RAW, because the point is less making money than it is getting guys ready to make money elsewhere. Like really, unless you’re getting the NXT title, your status gets erased the moment you get to RAW anyway. Just ask Bo Dallas or Neville. ​
