QOTD 107: The Blog Otter Network?
By Scott Keith on 3 March 2014
As we all bask in WWE Network launch week, I got to thinking about what other forms of media could support this kind of model, I.E supporting an entire 9.99 subscription based entirely off one brand or product.
Thus:
What’s the next <Brand Here> “Network”You want to see?
I vaguely remember there being talk of a “The Simpsons” network / TV channel, and I have to think that’d be a wonderful idea. I’d happily pay a subscription or a large one-time fee to have access to the entirety of the Simpsons archive, including the shorts and the ability to access all the DVD special features.
I’d like to see this idea come to gaming in a bigger capacity when Streaming games becomes a thing – I think one of the things with gaming is this that there’s no ‘basic cable’ and a lot of stuff is tricky to get a hold of or discover or play for free unless you pirate or borrow from a friend – an ad supported ‘gaming network’ would be cool – I guess Playstation Now is supposed to cover that, so we shall see.
Beyond that, I guess an On Demand library of NFL / NBA / MLB games would be cool for some folks, but it’s not my cup of tea.
Also feel free to discuss Wrestlemania 25.
