Hey Scott,
Thought there was a chance you and the remainder of the blog might appreciate this.
Quick explanation: for the last ten years, I've held an Oscar pool involving my friends and family where everyone predicts, as best they can, the winners of this year's impending Academy Awards. To get all of them pumped up for this year's pool, my roommate (who has never watched wrestling before) and I paid tribute to the always great 1992 Royal Rumble introduction package.
Would love to know what you guys think.
Speaking of Oscars, I know you're a big fan of Goodfellas and The English Patient. Have you find time to hire a sitter and go see any of the Best Picture nominees Gravity, American Hustle, or The Wolf of Wall Street? Would love to know what you thought if you had.
Thanks!
Yes! Gravity was great, but would probably lose a lot outside of the 3D environment. That being said, it was one of the tense 2 hours I've had in a theater and Sandra Bullock had an amazing one-person performance.
American Hustle was great and hilarious, although might divide voters too much to actually win. It was mostly all about J-Law and the SCIENCE OVEN for me. Some thought it was too slow, I loved it.
The one I'd like to see win now is Dallas Buyers Club, which had two great performances from people that I despise, great enough that I didn't hate them at all. The movie had me from start to finish.
I don't think I've seen any of the rest, but those are the only three noms I remember anyway.
