Get Over It

By Scott Keith on 13 July 2013

Do guys like Cena, HHH, Hogan, etc. take to much slack for "not getting others over?" Shouldn't getting an act over be 99% on that performers shoulders? Stone Cold never got a big win, especially over Bret, during his ascension to the WWE title. Daniel Bryan is the most over guy in the company right now and hasn't needed anyone else's help. Ziggler got over solely by having great matches. Vince got his character more over by doing little things such as giving the crowd the finger while being stretchered out or by having The Stooges wheel him around in a wheelchair. These little things can be done completely independently and can get someone over.

I hate the idea that "Cena shoulda helped Dolph get over more" during their mini feud last year and statements like this. Performers in general don't control who wins and loses and outcomes aren't the only way to get over in the WWE. Do you agree or disagree?
Mostly agree. 90% of the guys on the roster just go out and do what's scripted for them, so it's totally out of their control. However, Cena tends to put his smirking, jokey touch on his own material, so it's often impossible for someone to sell a serious angle against him. But yes, there are absolutely ways to get yourself over. Just be careful not to get TOO over and get Zack'd.
