BREAKING NEWS: The Enforcers have won the World tag team titles on nationwide TV!

The York Foundation v. Big Josh, Tom Zenk & Dustin Rhodes

This is a non-title match a couple of weeks after the babyfaces won the Six-Man titles from the Freebirds, setting up the title change a couple of weeks after this. Tony tells a story about how Bobby Eaton was supposed to be part of the team, but had other commitments and Dustin Rhodes had to take his place. I’ve heard he actually missed the taping due to taking a driving test, which seems like a weirdly specific excuse. Dustin clears the ring to start as Alexandra York watches him intently. Almost with thirst. She’s probably sexting him on her computer in fact. Do kids still sext these days? Anyway Tommy Rich comes in and you know he’s a heel because he’s got a ponytail, like all evil rich people do. At least Tommy knew how to play a heel, unlike the other two goofs. Big Josh gets the log roll on Taylor and follows with an atomic drop as the babyfaces pinball Terry in the corner. But then Taylor gets a jawbreaker and Morton adds a back suplex. Josh tries to whip out his stick but the ref stops him, so he gets the hot tag anyway and cleans house. Butt splash on Taylor, but Morton uses the computer to break it up for the DQ at 5:50. An OK opener.

The WRESTLING NEWS NETWORK! WITH GORDON SOLIE!

Gordon reflects on his relationship with the Windham family, with “his dad Bobby Joe and younger brother” over the years, and that leads us to a squash from World Championship Wrestling.

Barry Windham v. Snake Watson

Barry is mostly a babyface now and he slams Watson and drops an elbow on him, then hits the floatover suplex and follows with a forearm. Gut wrench suplex and Watson bails to the floor, but that allows Lex Luger to hit the ring for the DQ at 1:35. So that turns into a heel beatdown, with Luger ramming Barry’s face into the concrete, but Ron Simmons tries to save. And he also gets his ass kicked, as Luger beats them both up and then finally leaves when he’s had enough of kicking their asses.

The Patriots v. Sam Cody & Snake Watson

Damn, two straight Snake Watson squashes? Who’s agenting this show? Firebreaker Chip (aka Chip the Firebreaker) starts with Snake and works the arm, and Champion comes in with a legdrop. Back to Chip and he works on the arm of Sam Cody and then Champion finishes with a back elbow at 2:20.

Meanwhile, the Enforcers do a promo with their new belts and Larry insults people who like rap music and Madonna.

The Enforcers v. Unnamed jobbers

Larry finishes one of them with a leglock in 0:28, as they don’t even do entrances because they won’t actually have the belts until a month after this was taped.

Meanwhile, Lex Luger and his entourage continue their beefing with Barry Windham & Ron Simmons.

Rick Steiner v. Jack Savage

No relation I’m assuming. Rick hurls the poor bastard with a suplex right away and then just unloads on him with a Steinerline and drops an elbow on him. Tony is just laughing at the poor jobber being concussed and half-dead, and Rick slams him into the corner and sends him into the floor off that. Back in the ring, Rick with a belly to belly off the top to finish at 1:45.

Meanwhile, on “Nationwide TV”, Paul E. Dangerously chats with Sting about getting attacked by people in boxes, first Abdullah and then Cactus Jack. So then someone wheels out another box, and a paranoid Sting tears into this one and finds a woman this time. And she delivers a message: “No matter you are, no matter where you go, I’m watching you and can’t wait to get my hands on you again, your friend Cactus Jack.” Sting is unimpressed and sends the lady off with a kiss.

Cactus Jack joins Tony, back on the show again for a first time in a while, and he’s happy because he’s got a purpose in his life now. Someone is paying a ton of money to put Sting out of business forever and that’s OK with Jack. He’s based on blood sweat and tears, but the tears aren’t his, they’re Sting’s. And he’d personally go to ringside and slap all the little Stingers because that’s what they deserve.

The Diamond Studd v. Chris Sullivan

Studd does another promo before the match, trying to get “It’s Studd Time” over as a catchphrase and failing. It’s true, slowing down his cadence once he got to the WWF helped his promo ability 1500%. Doing the slow delivery made you have to stop and listen to him, as opposed to these yelling promos where you could just ignore him because it was all noise. Studd beats Sullivan down and clotheslines him, and then hits a side suplex and pump splash before putting him in an abdominal stretch. Studd hauls him to the floor and clotheslines him out there. Back in, the Diamond Death Drop finishes at 4:02. Studd was looking noticeably leaner here, which helped his look out a look compared to the bloated muscle bag he started as.

NEXT WEEK: Barry Windham & Ron Simmons team up for the first time ever!

Kind of a bland show this week but there’s some seeds being planted for awesome stuff at Halloween Havoc and the next Clash.
