The Young Pistols v. Rip Rogers & Sam Cody
Rip trades chops with Tracy in the corner and it’s over to Steve for some double-teaming on Rip. Cody comes in and Steve SWEEPS THE LEG, which sets up the missile dropkick to finish at 1:40.
Sting v. Harley Watkins
We get a weird deal to start where Watkins goes for the lockup and Sting just stands there and ignores him, and then they do it again and Sting chokes him out in the corner this time. Stinger splash and he shoves Watkins down and finishes with the Deathlock at 1:30. Well that was weird.
And now, the WCW Top 10!
- Barry Windham
- Ron Simmons
- Nikita Koloff
- Sting
- Stunning Steve
- El Gigante
- Johnny B. Badd
- Diamond Studd
- Dustin Rhodes
- Beautiful Bobby
WCW World champion: Lex Luger
Oh crap I just got a notification from Twitter. Hang on a second…
WHY is nobody talking about the CORRUPTION in the WCW TOP 10 Rankings??? Many people are saying (the smartest people, by the way) that these rankings are TOTALLY RIGGED against me. Every week I look, and somehow I’m not #1. Explain that!!!
I had RECORD crowds. RECORD ratings. The BIGGEST reactions. People would come up to me, tears in their eyes, and say, “Sir, you’re clearly the #1 contender.” Yet the so-called “experts” keep ranking guys like Sting and even El Gigante ahead of me. El Gigante! A man who moves through quicksand faster than he moves through a wrestling match.
The WCW Top 10 Committee is a DISASTER. Nobody knows who they are. Nobody elected them. Frankly, some of them probably work for Turner Broadcasting, which would explain a lot. Sad!
I have seen the numbers. Tremendous numbers. The best numbers. Meanwhile, certain wrestlers are being artificially inflated by FAKE POPS and ILLEGAL CHANTS. Very suspicious. Have you noticed that every time I gain momentum, suddenly there’s another ranking released? Coincidence? I don’t think so!
And don’t get me started on Missy Hyatt. Every week she’s standing there pretending not to know what’s going on. Everybody knows she knows what’s going on. Many people have told me this.
The rankings should be audited immediately. We need a FULL INVESTIGATION into Sting’s placement, El Gigante’s placement, and how a man who needs three commercial breaks to throw a clothesline keeps ending up ahead of me. The American people, and, frankly, the WCW people, deserve answers.
I’ve heard reports that some committee members are watching entirely different shows. One source told me they thought El Gigante was seven different wrestlers. That’s how often he stops moving. Very disturbing if true!
Until then, any WCW Top 10 list should be considered INVALID, FRAUDULENT, and possibly a threat to the integrity of professional wrestling itself.
MAKE WCW RANKINGS GREAT AGAIN!!!
Clearly this guy has some issues.
The Steiner Brothers join us to discuss Scott Steiner ripping his bicep, which is a switch from the original storyline of Rick being the injured one. And then Rick tells a story about sticking his fingers in light sockets when he was a kid.
The Hardliners v. Kenny McGuire & Mark B
Man the Hardliners were all over these syndicated shows way more than I remember at the time. Slater beats on Mark B and Murdoch takes him down with a hammerlock and cranks on that until the geek tags out to McGuire. Slater slugs him down and adds a legsweep, and then Murdoch takes him to the floor and runs him into the post shoulder-first. Back in, Slater cranks on a Fujiwara armbar to finish at 2:50.
Meanwhile, the Patriots join us with another fire safety tip for the week: Don’t play with matches! Hang on, let me take notes.
World TV Title: Stunning Steve Austin v. Robert Gibson
Man they were getting the most out of Gibson on this taping before he left. This is Gibson’s final TV appearance for WCW, by the way, although he stuck around and did house shows through August. Johnny B. Badd joins us at ringside and distracts Austin long enough for Robert to get a rollup for two. That Badd-Austin thing was so bizarre and went nowhere. Austin gets some knees in the corner and goes to work on the knee. Gibson kicks him in the corner and cradles for two off that, and then puts Austin on the floor with an enzuigiri. So Badd gets in Austin’s face and Steve clocks him, but that results in a countout at 2:24.
Sting joins Magnum TA to discuss the upcoming US title tournament in the Omni, with “10 or 11 guys” according to Sting.
Ron Simmons v. Marcus the Maniac
What is with the jobbers this week? Marcus attacks and Simmons quickly lays him out and drops a leg on him and then follows with a backbreaker. He puts the Maniac down with a back elbow and then finishes with the spinebuster at 2:00.
Nikita Koloff v. Bob Starr
Nikita does an inset where he hopes that Sting is in the finals so he can beat him and win the titles. You’d think that the finals WOULD have been Sting v. Koloff but in fact it was Sting v. Austin and Koloff was literally not even in the tournament. Koloff pulls down the straps and finishes with the Sickle at 1:00.
Meanwhile, on World Championship Wrestling, the Enforcers interrupt a Freebirds match to threaten the Birds and challenge them to a US tag team title match. This went nowhere, like many things from this time.
The Enforcers v. Big Josh & Beautiful Bobby
Josh takes Larry down with a wristlock to start and they slug it out, but Josh misses a charge. Arn comes in and drops a knee on him to take over, but then Larry misses a charge. Josh comes back and slugs it out with Arn, but the heels cut him off again and Larry gets the neckbreaker for two. Arn chokes him out and draws Bobby in to set up some more double-teaming in the corner. AA with a chinlock, but Josh suplexes out of it. So Arn drops an elbow on him, but Josh evades another one and it’s hot tag Bobby. So he gets double-teamed in the corner as the Freebirds run in and it’s a DQ at 5:20. Nothing special to this one.
A couple of weird squashes and a couple of storylines leading to nothing this week!
