The SmarK Rant for NWA Worldwide – 06.14.86

Taped from Salisbury, NC on 06.10.86

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & David Crockett

Ric Flair joins us to start, and the building is hot because 2000 women are melting over him. And he’s ready to defend the title 14 times in July.

Magnum TA v. Thunderfoot

Atomic drop and belly to belly finish at 0:13. TA still has the US title belt even though he was stripped of it

Back with Ric Flair, who is unimpressed by TA winning in 13 seconds, and he notes that maybe Magnum should try that on Nikita and see how it goes.

The Warlord v. George South

It’s the debut of the Warlord, managed by Baby Doll to start, and he’s a babyface. OK then. Warlord tosses South into the corner and then hits him with a press slam and pins him at 1:06. He looked like a deer in the headlights here. Thankfully he got a tiny bit better with time.

Last week, Dusty Rhodes is facing Ric Flair on TV, but the Horsemen run in for the DQ, including the return of Ole Anderson.

Arn Anderson joins us, and he was sick of people asking “Where’s OLE?” in a sarcastic tone of voice. So now the Four Horsemen are back, and Warlord should get an encyclopedia so he can learn to spell “Horsemen” before it goes on his epitaph. There’s a lot going on with that sentence.

The Four Horsemen join us after the attack last week, and Ole isn’t leaving until someone is dead and buried. By which he means Dusty.

The Rock N Roll Express v. Tony Zane & Ron Rossi

Robert controls Zane with armdrags, and Ricky comes in for more of the same. Over to Rossi, but the double dropkick finishes at 1:00.

Meanwhile, Tony and David announce the ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS LOOKALIKE CONTEST, which is only the first of three contests related to the Rock N Roll Express. Who would want to voluntarily try to look like goofy eyed Robert Gibson?

Jimmy Valiant & Manny Fernandez v. The Mulkey Brothers

Bull with the flying burrito to finish Bill at 0:35.

GREAT AMERICAN BASH UPDATE! WITH TONY AND DAVID!

This tour has the support of Waylon Jennings, so you know it’s good. Tony announces that the World Six Man titles will be up for grabs with Dusty & The Road Warriors defending against the Russians. Plus country music! So much country music! Tony actually sits down with Waylon, who talks about doing his new album in digital. Also Waylon thinks that a lot of the same people who listen to country music also like wrestling. Fascinating.

Magnum TA joins David and he’s not gonna let some COMMIE NO GOOD RUSSIAN tarnish his US title belt.

Dusty Rhodes joins us and announces that he’s facing Ric Flair in Washington DC and that’s where he’s gonna become champion for the third time.

World TV title: Arn Anderson v. Todd Champion

Arn immediately hits him with the gourdbuster and pins him at 0:33.

Wahoo McDaniels joins us with his strap, and beating Jimmy Garvin at the Bash is the only thing better than Christmas for him.

Tully Blanchard v. Vern Deaton

Tully quickly slugs away and finishes with the slingshot suplex at 0:15. Man they’re not working by the hour this week.

Paul Jones and his army join David, and the subject is Jimmy Valiant facing Baron in a glove on a pole match of some kind. Not sure what the glove is, but Baron has never lost one, so it must be effective.

And now it’s time for contest #2, the MISS ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS contest, where they’re encouraging young ladies to send in photos of themselves in order to win a chance to ride on the bus with the Express. With their legal guardians, the announcers wish to stress.

Nikita Koloff v. Mike Simiani

Sickle finishes at 0:10 as apparently it’s a competition to see who can win the fastest this week.

And finally, contest #3, the ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS DREAM DATE contest, where two ladies (18 years old or order!) will win a date with the Express, so send in those photos of yourselves now, ladies! I’m sure it’s all on the up and up.

Jimmy Garvin v. Rocky King

Well it takes 30 seconds for Jimmy to get his pants off, so he’s not winning the competition this week. Garvin drops him with a back suplex and finishes with the brainbuster at 1:10.

Jim Cornette joins David, and he’s excited because Baby Doll has challenged him to a match at the Bash. She comes out to confront him, so Big Bubba grabs her and Dusty tells him to release her. So Bobby Eaton charges in to help, and Baby Doll knocks him out with one punch. Cornette thinks it’s a conspiracy, of course, and he calls Baby Doll a BIG FAT HOG who got lucky, as we wrap it up for the week.

Well they’re pushing the Bash tour hard, you have to give them that.
