BREAKING NEWS: Magnum TA is no longer the US champion! But we’ll talk about that later.

Wahoo McDaniel joins us and he’s pretty unhappy that he got attacked by Jimmy Garvin and Steve Regal in the show’s cold open and WHIPPED LIKE A DOG by Garvin’s weight belt. So Wahoo is gonna be carrying a strap with him everywhere and no doubt will be facing Garvin in some kind of strap match at the Great American Bashes.

Jimmy Garvin joins us with his new best friend Steve Regal, and they’re pretty proud of themselves for making Wahoo squeal like a pig after strapping him. So he’s got a copy of the classified ads in case Wahoo needs to find a new job after getting chased out of the territory by him. And as always, it’s NOT HIS FAULT that he’s so good looking.

Tully Blanchard joins us, bragging about knocking out Ronnie Garvin in Virginia and having him carried out on a stretcher. We get footage from May 23, with Garvin facing Leo Burke in place of an injured Tully. Tully has his arm in a sling at ringside to prove he’s injured, and he laughs about how stupid Garvin was to buy that lie. And indeed the ref gets bumped and JJ gets involved, but Ronnie knocks out Burke, and then Tully miraculously pops up and the heels beat the hell out of Garvin and Tully piledrives him on a chair. Tully clarifies that Ronnie told him “I quit champ, no more, you’re the best”.

Jimmy Valiant & Manny Fernandez v. ???

No intro for the jobbers and the babyfaces finish them in :40 with Valiant’s elbowdrop anyway.

Meanwhile, we take you to an interview with Bob Geigel and Magnum TA, as Bob penalizes TA for attacking Nikita at the contract signing, giving him an OFFICIAL REPRIMAND for standing up for his mom. So Magnum gets even more pissed off and quips REPRIMAND THIS before punching Geigel in the face and knocking him out.

So then we return to Geigel, who then announces that for punching him out, Magnum has been stripped of the US title! Back at the studio, Jim Crockett clarifies that we’re gonna have a Best of Seven series between Magnum TA and Nikita Koloff to decide who the new US champion is gonna be.

The Horsemen join us with all their belts, and Ric Flair thinks David Crockett is stupid to call Dusty Rhodes the greatest attraction in wrestling earlier in the show. So that brings out Big Dust and his friends, and Dusty notes that if Ric has any guys under his suit, he’ll face Dusty TONIGHT IN THIS VERY RING. And then Dusty notes that Baby Doll told him something about Tully and they censor whatever it is.

Jim Cornette joins us with his new bodyguard Big Bubba Rogers, and he’s still worked up about the James Boys. Look, we clearly established that it was Tony Zane and Sam Houston last week. Also he’s gonna beat Baby Doll at the Great American Bash and make her his maid.

The Koloffs v. Denny Brown & Sam Houston

Denny gets a monkey flip out of the corner on Ivan and a back elbow into a jackknife cradle for two. But then Nikita comes in and smashes him. Ivan misses a blind charge and it’s over to Houston, who runs wild on Uncle Ivan before running into a Sickle from Nikita like a complete geek, and Ivan pins him at 1:40. That was a Sickle for the Sickos. He turned Houston inside out with that thing.

Magnum TA joins us, and he’s still carrying the US title despite getting stripped of it earlier in the show. He’s disgusted that he’s being treated this way, just because he loves his mother so much. And he’s not giving that belt back, so go ahead and try to take it from him! And he’ll do the same thing again ot anyone who talks shit about his mom. OK this was a great babyface promo, from someone who doesn’t just roll over and give up the title without a fight.

Teijho Khan, Shaska Whatley & The Baron v. Todd Champion, Rocky King & Rocky Kernodle

Khan hits the babyfaces with various slams and chokes Kernodle on the ropes. Baron rakes at the face of Kernodle while the crowd chants “bald headed geek”, and it’s over to Rocky King. Baron immediately escapes a sleeper attempt and suplexes him to bring in Shaska, who hits Rocky with a headbutt for two. And then the Baron loads up his glove and finishes with the claw at 2:50. And that is all the people need to know!

Dusty Rhodes v. Vern Deaton

Dusty disgustedly tosses Deaton out of the ring and he demands Flair! So Ric actually does come through the crowd and agrees to the match!

Dusty Rhodes v. Ric Flair

Dusty puts him down with elbows and slugs him down to set up the flip flop & fly, sending Ric to the apron. So Ric tries to kick Baby Doll, and Dusty runs him into the post to prevent that. Back in the ring, Ric beats on him in the corner and drops a knee on him, for two. Dusty with the press slam and he follows with a lariat for two. Flair goes to the top and Dusty slams him off, at which point the Horsemen run in for the DQ at 4:00 and it’s the return of OLE ANDERSON and fans, we’re DESPERATELY OUT OF TIME!

Well that was certainly a notable episode as we get closer to the start of the Bash tour!
