Wrestling World Braces for Busy Weekend and Four Major Shows

It’s a gigantic weekend of wrestling this weekend with shows from WWE, AEW, NXT and TNA all happening.

The Blog of Doom writing squad have done a great article of predictions and thoughts which you should check out here. We will have reviews of shows coming at you all weekend and into Monday morning.

It all starts with WWE’s Night of Champions, beaming to us on Saturday on ESPN in the U.S. and Netflix internationally starting at 1 p.m. ET. Oba Femi battles Jey Uso in the King of the Ring finals while Liv Morgan and Iyo Sky battle to determine Queen of the Ring. Cody Rhodes defends his Undisputed Title against Gunther and Sami Zayn while Trick Williams defends the U.S. Title against Ricky Starks. For the first time, the Women’s U.S. Title is defended at a PLE as Tiffany Stratton puts in on the line against Jade Cargill. Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker battle in a cage.

Next in the lineup is AEW Collision, airing at 8 p.m. ET on TNT and HBO Max Saturday night. Mercedes Mone teams with Athena to face Maya World and Hyan. Trios Champions The Conglomeration defend their gold against The Opps while TNT Champion Kevin Knight puts his on the line against Dezmond Xavier. CMLL World Women’s Champion Persephone defends against Billie Starkz. Three other exciting matches fill out the two-hour program.

AAA is third in the lineup, hosting Lucha Libre AAA Saturday night at 10 p.m. ET on YouTube. Lola Vice is defending the NXT Women’s Title against La Heidra. Galena is facing Mega Wolf and the Psycho Circus have some thoughts.

Sunday is game day with three big shows. TNA kicks it off with TNA Slammiversary at 4 p.m. ET (preshow at 3 p.m.). Mike Santana is defending his World Championship against Nic Nemeth while Lei Ying Lee defends the Knockouts World Title against Xia Brookside. The System, The Broken Hardys, The Righteous and The Great Hands go at it in a ladder match for the TNA World Tag Team Titles. Amazing Red returns to compete in an Ultimate X match, Mustafa Ali is defending his International Title, and several other matches line the show.

NXT presents the NXT Great American Bash Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on The CW. Lola Vice main events as she defends her title against Kendal Grey while Tony D’Angelo defending the NXT Title against Naruku opens the show. Women’s North American Champion Zaria faces Tatum Paxley while Men’s North American Champion Myles Borne faces Tavion Heights. Three other matches fill out the card.

And then there is AEW Forbidden Door on pay-per-view Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET with Zero Hour starting at 7 p.m. Team Briscoe battles MJF & The Don Callis Family in a cage match. AEW ends the two Owen Hart Tournaments with Mercedes Mone vs Maya World and Will Ospeary vs Swerve Strickland. Kenny Omega battles Zack Sabre Jr. Thekla puts her AEW Women’s World Title up against Starlight Kid and numerous other matches line the card.

That’s a lot of wrestling. Consume what you can. Don’t overdo it. Make sure you jump into the daily threads all weekend to discuss and then into the show review threads.
