Vince McMahon And WWE Fight To Shut Down Janel Grant’s Discovery Push

The legal battle between Janel Grant, Vince McMahon, and WWE has taken another turn.
According to Post Wrestling, Vince McMahon and WWE are trying to block Grant’s team from digging deeper through the discovery process. On Monday, both parties filed legal opposition to Grant’s recent request for more documents and information. They say that Grant hasn’t met the legal requirements for “pre-arbitration discovery” and is allegedly chasing documents that don’t directly relate to the core issue of whether she signed her NDA under duress.
In McMahon’s filing, his lawyers called the move an “improper fishing expedition” and asked the court to shut it down entirely.
WWE is accusing Grant’s team of trying to sidestep the court’s earlier order to delay any deep discovery until it decides whether the case will even go to arbitration. In other words, they believe Grant’s team is jumping the gun and doing it on purpose.
“Grant has failed to present any allegations, let alone reliable evidence that she didn’t intend to be bound by the arbitration agreement,” WWE’s filing stated.
So, what exactly does Grant’s team want from Vince McMahon?
Last week, they filed to obtain a wide range of documents, including emails between Vince and Linda McMahon about Grant, drafts of the NDA itself, WWE board materials, and even communications between Vince and Dr. Carlton Coker. (Yes, the same Dr. Coker who’s now suing Grant’s lawyer, Ann Callis, for defamation.)
This raises a lot of questions, such as whether Grant’s team is overreaching or whether WWE and McMahon are just trying to keep key information buried.
Let us know what you think, is this a valid accusation from McMahon, or is this just a defence tactic to try and hide key evidence? And do you think McMahon will be successful in this legal battle, like he has been in the past?
