Tony Khan Unveils AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships
By Craig Ballantyne on 25 September 2025
Tony Khan has announced the creation of the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Titles.
On the September 24th edition of Dynamite, Tony Khan made the important announcement he had been teasing all week. After hyping the success of 2025 for the company so far, the AEW President announced that it was time to introduce Tag Team Championships for the women’s division, but stopped short of revealing when the first champions will be crowned.
“We’re having such a big 2025 in AEW, and I’ve got a big announcement that’s gonna make things even more exciting around here. We’ve got some of the best wrestlers in the world, I believe that AEW is truly where the best wrestle, and I’m so proud of how strong the AEW women’s division has been in 2025.
“I think that it’s time to introduce new championships into the division. This year, coming very soon, for the first time ever, we will crown the inaugural Women’s World Tag Team Champions.”
Khan then asked Renee Paquette to unveil the new belts, which are similar to the men’s World Tag Team Title belts, as shown in the video below.
Tony Khan Teased AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles Earlier In 2025
Tony Khan hinted at the introduction of Women’s Tag Team gold in May. During the Double or Nothing media call, he told Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp that he was concentrating on building back the men’s tag team division, but was “interested” in creating Women’s Tag Team Championships, saying it was realistic to think we would see them at some point.
