Tony Khan Praises ‘Pro Wrestling Genius’ Jon Moxley

Tony Khan believes Jon Moxley is one of the most important stars in AEW.

In April 2019, Moxley departed from WWE after eight years in the company. The following month, he signed with All Elite Wrestling and made his debut at the promotion’s inaugural event, Double or Nothing, attacking Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega.

Since then, Moxley has been a constant presence in the main event scene, feuding with the likes of Omega, Hangman Adam Page, CM Punk, and Bryan Danielson. Many consider Moxley to be the ‘Ace’ of AEW, given his ability to elevate other stars, the times he has stepped up for the promotion during rough patches, and his backstage leadership.

In a new interview with Dirt Sheet Radio, AEW President Tony Khan echoed the sentiment, saying he regards Mox as one of the most important people in the company.

“It’s incredible. Jon Moxley since day one has been one of the most important stars in AEW, but backstage Jon Moxley is also, as you’ve correctly assessed, one of the most important people backstage in AEW.

“Everybody in AEW has so much respect for Jon Moxley and he arrived in AEW as a huge star, since we started AEW, he’s been the most consistent presence on the show week in, week out on all of our shows. Jon Moxley works so hard. He’s a phenomenal wrestler. He’s a phenomenal leader. He’s a genius about pro wrestling, and Jon Moxley is one of my favorite people I’ve ever gotten to work with.

“I’m really, really proud that Jon Moxley is in AEW, I think. He was a fantastic world champion time after time after time in AEW. Everything he’s done in this company has been to the benefit of AEW and Jon Moxley’s a phenomenal, phenomenal wrestler.”

Moxley is currently feuding with Darby Allin, and on the September 27th edition of Collision, it was made official that the pair will square off again at Wrestledream, this time in an ‘I Quit’ match.
