Ridge Holland Released Early After Criticising WWE

By Craig Ballantyne on 6 November 2025

WWE has released Ridge Holland following his criticism of the company.

On September 28th, Ridge Holland suffered an injury during a match with Moose at TNA’s Impact tapings in Edmonton, Canada. The star later confirmed it was an injury to his Lisfranc joint (a joint that connects the forefoot and the midfoot) and he would require surgery.

Only two weeks later, Holland announced that WWE would not be renewing his contract after it expired on November 14th. At the time, he admitted that, while he was grateful and thankful for his time in the company, it was frustrating to lose his guaranteed pay when he was still facing six months of recovery time.

“I Feel Like I’ve Just Been Hung Out To Dry” – Ridge Holland On WWE Release

In a frank message on social media on November 4th, Holland made his feelings on WWE clearer, admitting he was at risk of not being able to pay his mortgage and felt “hung out to dry” by the promotion.

While WWE is paying for his surgery and physical therapy, Holland argued it’s the “bare minimum” they could do considering the sacrifices wrestlers make for the company.

“I never thought I’d not be able to pay my mortgage.

I feel like I’ve just been hung out to dry after getting injured working for another company on behalf of WWE.

Add to that my contract not being renewed knowing that I wouldn’t be able to wrestle for 7 months. This is brutal.

Yes they are taking care of the surgery and physical therapy but let’s be honest, that’s the bare minimum after what we sacrifice for the company.

Plus the possibility of having to get my neck fused too.

Talk about getting totally f**ked.”

Now, things have gone from bad to worse for Holland, as Fightful Select has reported that his contract has been terminated early. According to the report, the decision was a direct result of Holland’s comments on social media, with WWE claiming they constituted a breach of contract.

With the added possibility of neck fusion surgery, Holland has launched a GoFundMe with the aim of raising $60,000. The campaign has raised $1,260 so far, including $1,000 from WWE star Chelsea Green, who shared the link on social media.

Do you think WWE was justified in releasing Ridge Holland early? Or do you agree he’s been “hung out to dry”? Let us know your thoughts below!
