Kota Ibushi Provides Update On Leg Injury

By Craig Ballantyne on 13 October 2025

Kota Ibushi has updated fans on the injury he suffered on AEW Collision.

On the October 11th edition of Collision, Kota Ibushi continued his rivalry with the Don Callis Family when he took on Josh Alexander in the opening match. At the end of the match, Alexander lifted Ibushi in the corner, but the Golden Star stumbled and fell to the floor on the outside. Ibushi remained on the ground as the referee made the ten-count, ending the match. After the bell rang, Ibushi was tended to by medics and stretchered out of the arena.

After the show aired on Saturday, Ibushi provided an update on social media. He confirmed reports that he had suffered a broken femur, saying the bone was pushing into his muscle.

The star has now undergone surgery, but is unsure how long he’ll be out of action, saying it could be between a year and a year and a half. Currently, the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion admits that even moving his toes caused a lot of pain.

“Again? Again?

I’ve only had serious injuries. This is a broken femur, and the broken bone is trying to break through the flesh. I know I should stop, but…

Surgery completed successfully!! ️
(Unless I get another serious injury) I plan to live my life as a normal person from now on.

#These past 5 years have been all about breaking, healing, and accidents
#But it didn’t end like this, did it?
#Above all, the best boss
#TONYKHAN
#And a colleague as the vice president
#KENNYOMEGA
#Nakazawa-san, who helped me with so many things
#AEW, the best in the world

I can’t believe the president himself gave me a bouquet and a letter. After this, I can’t quit again!! ️‼️ I cried
I don’t know if it will take a year or a year and a half, but I’ll start by doing something. Right now, I’m in such severe pain that I can only move my toes. I was surprised that I still had pain. Mr. Tony Khan…I just have to keep trying”

The injury is the latest setback in Ibushi’s career, with the star having only recently come back from shoulder and foot issues that left him out of action for most of 2024 and 2025.

Tony Khan Visits Kota Ibushi In Hospital

In addition to sending Kota Ibushi flowers, AEW President Tony Khan paid the star a visit shortly after his surgery. In another social media post, Ibushi shared a picture of himself with Khan, saying he was surprised that he took the time out to go and see him by himself.

“The boss came around alone and everyone was surprised, and I was surprised in the first place. You don’t usually show up like this, why do you do all that?”

Ibushi also shared the note Khan had written, wishing him luck in his recovery.

“I wish you all the best in your recovery. Everyone in AEW respects you so much. Thank you, God bless you, Mr Kota Ibushi!”
