John Cena’s WWE Retirement Date Set

The date on which John Cena will compete in his final WWE match has been revealed.

It has been known for a while now that this is John Cena’s retirement year from professional wrestling and that he would have his last match sometime in December. However, the actual date on which Cena will have his last match has been revealed, as it was announced Cena will retire at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 (which is also my birthday, funnily enough).

The announcement came as part of a press release from NBC Sports that announced that Peacock and WWE have agreed to a multi-year deal for Saturday Night’s Main Event to stream exclusively on their platform in the US, with the first instalment of the show streaming exclusively on Peacock being the November 1 show, and then the December 13 edition will feature Cena’s retirement match.

There had been rumours that WWE would move SNME to December 27 to go head-to-head with AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view, but that clearly is not happening.

Who Will Be John Cena’s Opponent In His Retirement Match?

It is currently unknown who John Cena’s final opponent will be on December 13; he is currently feuding with Brock Lesnar after Lesnar returned to WWE after nearly two years away at Night 2 of SummerSlam and attacked Cena to reignite their feud.

It has been reported previously that Cena and Lesnar’s match will take place in the main event on a September 20 PPV event that is rumoured to be called “Wrestlepalooza”. The new PPV will run head-to-head against AEW’s All Out event.
