John Cena Set For Huge Match On WWE Raw

John Cena will reportedly challenge for the WWE Intercontinental Championship in his last match in Boston.

In October, reports circulated that John Cena would finally win the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames. The championship is the only major title Cena hasn’t held in his legendary career. In fact, outside of house shows, the 17-time World Champion hasn’t even challenged for the iconic title.

Cena has mentioned wanting to face the current champion, Dominik Mysterio, multiple times in recent months. However, if plans for the match were in place, things seemed to change last week when Rey Mysterio returned to Raw to confront his son after he called himself the ‘King of Luchadores.’ The segment also saw Rey telling Dominik he would never even be the greatest Mysterio before the pair got into a fight, ending with Rey hitting a 619 before Dominik fled the ring.

Following Raw, Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that a rematch between the two is now likely to happen at Survivor Series, which takes place in Rey Mysterio’s hometown of San Diego, California.

Will John Cena Face Dominik Mysterio Before His Retirement?

With only four appearances left before he retires, John Cena’s opportunities to face Dominik Mysterio are limited. However, Bodyslam.net has now reported that the match will not only take place, but it’s set for tonight on Raw when Cena steps in the ring in his hometown of Boston for the last time.

The report also claims that Cena will challenge for the Intercontinental Championship for the first time on TV. Still, there are no indications on whether he will capture the gold as previously rumoured.
