AAA Review – 06.20.26

By Niz on 21 June 2026

Go forth and consume knowledge, my brethren: Raw | NXT | Evolve | Main Event | Impact | Smackdown | NXT 2.0 Rewind

AAA comes to Youtube from Foro GNP Seguros in Mérida, Mexico this evening. The American announcing team for the show are Corey Graves, John Bradshaw Layfield, and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio. Tonight sees the returns of AAA Mega Champion Dom Mysterio and El Grande Americano, so let’s watch some LUCHA!

Then, Now, Forever….TOGETHER

Arrivals include El Ojo as Dorian Roldan and AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Vikingo are deep in discussions while Omos trails behind. AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix is next in, and here’s El Grande Americano cradling a duck in a Mexican futbol kit and getting a huge pop.

El Ojo (AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Vikingo and Omos) vs El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. and Mini-Vikingo

Okay, so here’s what we’re doing – Mini will be Mini-Vikingo, and El Hijo del Vikingo will be Vikingo, for the purposes of this match review. Dorian Roldan is at ringside with his men. There will be no test later, but you might catch a spitball in the ear. Let’s see what happens.

It’s Vikingo and DW3 to start and DW3 plants Vikingo with a big boot. Vikingo ends up in a corner and DW3 comes in hot with some fists and kicks. DW3 hits a big splash and follows with a dropkick that gets two. Vikingo goes to the eyes and then escapes a DW3 charge. Vikingo hits a sunset flip and covers DW3 but the ref sees Vikingo’s foot on the ropes and stops the count at two. Vikingo puts the boots to DW3 before going at his mask. Vikingo slaps on a submission but he breaks it to dance and kick DW3 in the head. DW3 plants a charging Vikingo with a lofted powerslam. Mini tags in and nails Vikingo with a shotgun dropkick. Mini does some acrobatics off an irish whip and then snaps off a torneo cross-body that drives Vikingo down. Vikingo fires up with a Pele kick and then does the Cristiano Ronaldo goal celebration. Vikingo puts the stink-mouth on DW3 to draw him in, and in the meantime Vikingo sends Mini into the El Ojo corner. Omos clubbers away at Mini and then accepts a tag from Vikingo. Omos bullies Mini over the top rope and every time the ref backs him off Vikingo flies in and kicks Mini square in the temple. Roldan gets in a poke at the helpless Mini before Omos lawn-darts Mini 3/4 of the way across the ring. Omos drags Mini to the middle of the ring for a bunch of elbow drops before yanking him off the mat to tag in Vikingo. Mini snaps off a rana and makes the tag to DW3 who starts bashing VIkingo around. DW3 lines up Vikingo for a step-up knee and then yanks him into a Death Valley Driver that gets two.

Mini tags in and walks right into Omos’s goozle while DW3 is battling it out with Vikingo. Vikingo leaves DW3 perched in a corner for Omos to wreck him with a lariat while Vikingo goes to the mat to blast Mini with a sliding dropkick. Vikingo waffles DW3 with a running Meteora and he tumbles to the floor only to be mashed head-first into the ring steps by Omos. As Omos continues the assault, Mini flies in with a crucifix driver and covers Vikingo for three!

Mini is on a ROLL right now with two huge pins of Vikingo. I would assume this will earn him a title shot at some point soon, perhaps at Verano de Escandalo? That will be fun no matter where it happens. This was good, but it felt like the heels had it the whole way and maybe once again underestimated Mini? It’s hard to tell, but you can’t keep calling them upsets if a guy keeps getting pinned by someone considered to be not in his league. 3.5*

Winners – Mini/DW3 (Mini pins Vikingo from a top rope crucifix driver)

Post-match sees an enraged Omos attack Mini from behind. Vikingo and Omos mash DW3 around and Omos goes out to smash him into a ring post. Omos crushes DW3 with a lariat and looms over top of him before yanking up some ring steps. Here’s Galeno del Mal in to attack Omos in defense of his brother. Galeno catches a Vikingo dive and he tosses him away casually, but when Galeno turns he runs right into Omos smashing him in the head with the top of the ring steps. Omos looms over top of the fallen brothers.

Here’s AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio to mention all the recent changes and huge results before assuring everyone that he’s the constant because he’s the Mega Champion and the Main Event. The kingdom belongs to Dirty Dom.

After commercials, here’s Psycho Clown proclaiming that Los Psycho Circus is still together.

Here’s a quick look at the saga of Laredo Kid eventually losing the AAA Cruiserweight Championship to Rey Fenix at Noche de los Grandes.

AAA Cruiserweight Championship: Rey Fenix (C) vs Laredo Kid vs Lince Dorado

Laredo snaps off a rana on Fenix and then waffles him with a lariat. Laredo busts Dorado in the chops with a forearm and then yanks Fenix into a Michinoku Driver. Laredo covers Fenix and gets two. Laredo slaps Dorado around but Dorado manages to get his boot up when Laredo charges. Fenix monkey-flips Laredo into a Dorado rana. Fenix yanks up Dorado but Dorado reverses into an aggressive hiptoss. Dorado dropkicks Fenix to the floor and then pulls a charging Laredo into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Dorado mashes Laredo down with a short lariat and covers for two.

Fenix decides to offer Dorado a mid-match handshake as JBL petitions Mysterio for a raise and membership in Las Toxicas. Dorado takes Fenix’s hand and uses it to roll him up for two. Fenix snaps off a handspring back elbow on Dorado and then pulls Laredo into a torquing submission before driving Laredo down stomach-first to the mat. Fenix covers and gets two. Fenix gets yanked down and out by Laredo and then driven shoulder-first into the ring steps. Laredo monkey-flips a charging Dorado and then ascends for and Orihara moonsault. Laredo tosses Dorado back in and covers him for two. Laredo and Dorado get into a slap battle and then Laredo hits a bridging suplex that gets two. Laredo slugs a charging Fenix and then gets rolled up by a recovered Dorado for two. Laredo yanks Dorado up for a slam and then smashes him with a corkscrew splash that gets two.

Laredo slugs Fenix again and then runs right into a Dorado back body drop. Dorado hits a backstabber and two moonsaults but the third one meets Laredo’s boots. Fenix flies in with an armdrag on a staggering Dorado and then crushes him with a double stomp. Laredo wades in with another big right hand and then bullies Fenix to a corner. Laredo just smashes Fenix around before missing a charge. Fenix springs up and runs the ropes to blast Laredo in the head with a kick. Fenix hits a springboard splash to Dorado on the floor and then comes back in to smash Laredo down with an overhead driver that gets two.

Dorado slaps a sleeper on Fenix who rolls him over so they can start slapping each other. Dorado uses Fenix’s foot to smash a charging Laredo and then Dorado snaps off a double handspring stunner on Fenix and Laredo. Dorado grabs a jackknife cover on Fenix and Laredo breaks up the cover at two. Laredo yanks Fenix up and pulls Dorado in as well, but they shake him off and waffle him with a double superkick. Dorado and Fenix smash each other with simultaneous roundhouses to the head and that gives Laredo a chance to fly in with a double Blockbuster. Laredo tries a double cover and both guys kick out at two.

Laredo stalks a staggering Fenix and blasts him with a right. Laredo mounts Fenix and they fight it out. Laredo gets shoved down and Dorado uses Laredo as a ramp to crush Fenix with a running enziguri. Dorado hits a tope sucida on Laredo and then flies back in to hit a top rope rana on Fenix. Laredo flies down the apron to push Dorado off a top turnbuckle and onto the corner of the AAA announce desk at ringside. Laredo’s frog splash attempt meets Fenix’s knees and Fenix follows up with a reverse jumping thrust kick. Fenix yanks Laredo in for a Mexican Muscle Buster and that finishes things.

The crowd just loved every bit of this and I don’t blame them. The cruisers put on quite a show here and while selling was at a minimum, the match was evenly-paced, and told the story of Laredo kind of bullying Fenix and Dorado around but the numbers being too much for Laredo to eventually overcome. This was a hell of a contest, quite frankly. 4*

Winner AND STILL AAA Cruiserweight Champion – Rey Fenix (Mexican Muscle Buster on Laredo Kid)

Post-match sees Fenix seem to indicate that he’s done with Laredo as he backs up the aisle while celebrating with the fans.

Here’s Rey Mysterio as GM having a quick chat with some media members. Mysterio thought Fenix’s defense was great and he mentions that he’s chatting with other WWE brand GM’s about having Fenix defend the title on their shows. Mysterio announces that he’s collaborating with Robert Stone around an NXT title defense against a AAA competitor and throws to a match graphic that indicates that Lola Vice will be defending her NXT Women’s Championship against La Hiedra in next week’s AAA main event. Mysterio then drops a hint that he’s very close to bringing in a former WWE world champion to have some action in AAA.

We see highlights of the utterly epic mask vs mask match that saw Chad Gable emerge from under the Original El Grande Americano mask. Back live, here’s a mariachi band playing “Cielito Lindo” to bring out El Grande Americano to an IMMENSE pop. Americano is sporting a silver mask tonight and looks dapper in his suit. A huge “Grande, Grande” chant breaks out and EGA heads down to the ring while stopping to hug a kid who starts sobbing immediately. JBL compares Mask vs Mask to HBK vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25 in terms of passion and emotion. EGA celebrates with many sets of fans and pulls a kid in an EGA mask over the barricade for a big hug. EGA daps up the AAA announcers and makes a complete lap around the ring before entering to another deafening pop when he’s officially announced.

EGA greets Merida and is very excited to be there. EGA says they did it together at Noche de los Grandes and took down Shorty Americano. Together they demonstrated the force of Lucha and Mexican culture. EGA says he didn’t do it alone, he had all his friends and people with him. EGA calls out Ojitos for helping him despite not being able to see the danger right in front of him. EGA mentions the legend Pimpinela Escarlata who gets a nice chant from the crowd and everlasting thanks from EGA. EGA then thanks his love Andrea Bazarte for standing by him when things got difficult, and EGA will always fight for her because he loves her. EGA then thanks everyone in Mexico, his people, for holding him up and believing in him. EGA says the victory is all theirs and for all his people across Mexico. Now it’s time for what’s next and that is taking the momentum from Rey de Reyes and Mask vs Mask to become the Mega Champion. EGA calls out Dominik Mysterio by name and there’s a stir at the top of the ramp.

Karmen Petrovic has emerged out on the ramp and the distraction from that sees four men in masks emerge from the crowd – Daga, Los Garza, and NXT’s Bronco Nima. Nima mashes EGA with a clothesline and the four on one beatdown commences. These guys are all in black zip-up hoodies and once they’ve beaten EGA down they unzip the hoodies to reveal LOS PERROS DEL MAL t-shirts. The men hold EGA in place and Petrovic crushes him with a spinning kick to the head. The credits roll as Los Perros stand tall.

Well, that was quite a show-closing angle. If you need all the history of what the Los Perros Del Mal reveal means, you can read all about it here with the Wiki article about the group. It’s a very VERY famous rudo faction and I’m not surprised at all that WWE is using the name to elevate and recycle some talent around. It makes a ton of sense. The matches tonight were both very good with the cruiserweight three-way particularly standing out. It’s the best hour of wrestling all week for a reason, gang.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Y’all be cool.
