Evening Daily News Update: January 27, 2026

Good evening, doomers, and welcome to another Evening Daily News Update! Another fine Tuesday means WWE NXT for you guys needing your nightly fix of modern-era pro rasslin’. If you’re into the old stuff, the Vault is still running a Royal Rumble livestream. The NBA on NBC/Peacock has their Coast-to-Coast special, but YOUR New York Knicks host the Sacramento Kings and we’re looking for revenge for that loss several weeks ago.

The Road to the Royal Rumble is almost finished (much like the stadium) and Kat’s Raw Review will help us keep up with all the wonderful WWE action. Rock Star Gary has the April 13th, 1985 episode of World Championship Wrestling, Alex brings us Part VI on the Book of Jumbo Tsuruta, and Yours Truly has more Smoky Mountain Wrestling as we start to creep up on the Volunteer Slam and crowning the 1st Heavyweight Champion.

Steph De Lander Nearing Return to The Ring
TNA’s De Lander has been out of action since the Fall of 2024 following neck fusion surgery. While cleared to return by her surgeon, she’s looking for full clearance from other physicians.

YouTube Spotlight: On This Day… Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage
Richard Land’s YouTube channel “History of WWF” has started a fun “day of” series which seems pretty self-explanatory. On this day in 1987, Ricky Steamboat challenges Randy Savage for the Intercontinental Title at a WWE TV taping in Ft. Myers, and only featured for International Markets.
