AEW Collision Review – 10.04.25

Let’s catch up on the current goings-on with AEW: Dynamite

Collision was recorded 2 October, 2025 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, FL. The television presenters for the show are Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness on match calls and analysis, Arkady Aura on ring announcements, and Lexy Nair and Renee Paquette on backstage interviews and breaking news segments.

BIG STOKE opens the show with some comments on Kevin Knight who responds accordingly while surrounded by Speedball Mike Bailey and Willow Nightingale. LFI call Eddie Kingston names, so Kingston (with Hook) tells them he hates them for making him have to cut a promo to hype the match. Anna Jay wants Jamie Hayter to bring it tonight, which I’m sure she will. Orange Cassidy and The Paragon chat about whooping the Don Callis Family and after O’Reilly and Strong leave, Cassidy is confronted by PAC who challenges Cassidy for Jacksonville’s Dynamite Homecoming and promises there will be no Death Rider or Don Callis Family interference.

The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castignoli, and Daniel Garcia) vs Jay Lethal, Tommy Billington and Adam Priest

Matt Menard joins the commentary team to provide further angst regarding the status of Daniel Garcia. For some reason this match has brought all the Death Riders to ringside, including PAC, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta. The Swirl keep an eye on things from a backstage monitor.

There’s a six way scrum to start with the babyfaces in charge. Garcia stops that by tossing Billington over the top rope and tagging Moxley so he can do more damage on the floor. Billington finally escapes to tag in Priest, who goes to work on Moxley. Moxley cuts that off with a forearm but Priest continues to hammer away. Priest tries a tope suicida and is caught by Castignoli who bench presses Priest before tossing him onto the barrier as we go to commercials. Castignoli continues beating on Priest before Moxley tags in to continue the assault. After Moxley bites Priest on the face, a fed up Lethal stomps in and whales Moxley with a right. Castignoli responds in kind and then tags in after Garcia has done some work on Priest.

Castignoli misses a charge and Priest finally tags in Billington. Garcia has tagged in and Billington culminates an offensive flurry with a missile dropkick and a diving headbutt. Billington’s cover gets two. Moxley and Lethal tag in and Lethal’s top rope elbow drop misses as he’s caught by Moxley in a rear naked choke. Garcia blind tags in and while he has Lethal in a Dragon Tamer Moxley hits a curb stomp on Lethal. The ref checks on Lethal, who is out from the curb stomp, so the ref calls it.

I wouldn’t call it a squash but it had that feel by the end. Claudio was definitely laying his shit in, that’s for sure, and the punch that Lethal nailed Moxley with was cool as hell. With an outcome that was never in doubt, at least they went for some psychology with the heat sequence on Priest. 2.5*

Winners – The Death Riders (Moxley curb stomp on Lethal)

Post match sees Matt Menard again confronting Daniel Garcia who grabs Arkady Aura’s mic. Garcia tells Menard that he loved him but he was a loser when he was hanging with him because Menard is a loser. Garcia also calls Nigel McGuinness a “parasite” before leaving with the Death Riders. It’s mentioned that Moxley will be taking on Tomohiro Ishii on Dynamite this week, which is on Tuesday night.

Renee Paquette is backstage with The Matriarchy looking to get a medical update on Nick Wayne. The doctor attending to Wayne says it’s still another 6-8 weeks and everyone leaves in a huff.

Anna Jay vs Jamie Hayter

There’s an exchange of “anything you can do” stuff at the beginning and Jay ends up trucking Hayter and bowing to the crowd. Jay hits a rear thrust kick and a snap suplex before covering Hayter for two. Hayter stops Jay’s flurry by ramming her head into a top turnbuckle a few times. Jay surprises Hayter with a flatliner and covers for two. Hayter re-takes the advantage as we go to commercials.

They’re slugging it out mid-ring when we return and Jay takes the advantage. Jay snap-mares Hayter over and hits a running shotgun dropkick before covering and getting two. Jay puts the Queen Slayer on but Hayter rolls Jay over and gets a quick two. Hayter takes over and hits a couple shotgun dropkicks and a backdrop driver for a two count. Hayter gets a backslide for two and a knee strike gets another two count. Jay snaps off a DDT and a blockbuster before covering Hayter for two. Hayter escapes the Queen Slayer and hits Hayter-ade for three.

It was a solid back and forth contest, and I thought Jay held her own with Hayter. I can’t say the selling was great but Hayter is just a wildly talented and entertaining performer. I suspect this might end up being match of the night but we’ll see. 3.25*

Winner – Jamie Hayter (Hayter-ade)

Post-match sees Hayter help a bloodied Jay up from the mat.

Lexy Nair is with Platinum Max Caster. Big Bill and Bryan Keith march in to insult Caster, and Anthony Bowens wanders in. Bowens and Keith get into it, and a tag match is agreed to for Daily’s Place. Bowens assures Nair that they are not wrestling as the Acclaimed and Caster storms off after calling Nair a “jerk”.

ROH World Tag Team Champions La Faccion Ingobernable (Sammy Guevara and Rush) vs Shane Stetson and Cha-Cha Charlie

LFI are accompanied by Dralistico. Cha-Cha Charlie having to do this without Disco Dave is sad, but I doubt he’ll get to regret it for too long. Rush utterly destroys both guys and hits the The Horns dropkick on a prone Charlie. Guevara tags in and hits a swanton on Charlie before covering for three.

Sure. 1/2*

Winners – LFI (Guevara swanton on Charlie)

Post-match sees Eddie Kingston immediately emerge with Hook in tow.

Eddie Kingston vs Dralistico

Guevara joins the announce team as Rush is escorted away by several officials. After Dralistico celebrates an arm-drag a grinning Kingston goes on offense with arm-drags of his own. Dralistico takes over as Guevara laments Kingston tossing him off the Blood and Guts cage a few years back. There’s a chop exchange during picture-in-picture commercials which ends with Dralistico dropping Kingston with a kick to the knee. Dralistico hammers away on Kingston in a corner but Kingston fires up with more chops. Dralistico resumes the advantage when we go back to full screen. Dralistico’s shotgun dropkick gets a two count.

Kingston gets a rear leg trip and both guys are down. Kingston wants another chop battle but Dralistico declines. Dralistico hits a Codebreaker and Kingston ends up on the floor. Guevara wants to get involved but Hook stops that. Kingston gets a roll up for two. Kingston hits his backfist and covers for three.

A styles clash for sure, but at least Eddie sells for everyone. Kingston still looks rusty to me and he’s not moving around all that well yet, but hopefully it’s a work in progress and maybe he’ll put some work in on his body. Dralistico is the job guy of LFI and well, he jobbed. 2*

Winner – Eddie Kingston (Backfist)

It’s announced that Kingston will take on The Beast Mortos on Collision, and Kota Ibushi will make his Collision debut against Josh Alexander as well on that same show.

Schiavone throws to a highlights package of the return of Andrade El Idolo and the debut of EL CLON on Dynamite, because the Don Callis Family definitely needed two more guys.

MxMTV make their way to the ring and Mansoor tells the “swamp dwelling mutants” to shut up because they’re hosting a casting call. No one looks happy when the Don Callis Family answers the challenge, sans Don Callis thankfully.

MxM TV (Mason Madden, Mansoor and Johnny TV) vs The Don Callis Family (AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander)

MxM are accompanied by Taya Valkyrie, and the DCF are accompanied by EL CLON. Takeshita shakes off an early TV flurry and murders him with a forearm. Mansoor gets a blind tag and Takeshita proceeds to utterly destroy him off the apron with a forearm. Fletcher sends TV to the floor with a pump kick. Alexander hits a running powerslam on TV and gets two.

Madden tags in and manages to wipe out Fletcher and Alexander with clotheslines, but the MxM guys make the unfortunate choice to pose and not follow up. The DCF hits all of them with German suplexes and Fletcher wipes out Madden with a tope suicida. Takeshita hits a spinning Blue Thunder Bomb on TV and Fletcher wallops Mansoor with a superkick. Mansoor then gets hit with the following: A top rope back suplex by Fletcher, a wheelbarrow toss by Takeshita, a package piledriver by Alexander and the sheer drop brainbuster by Fletcher. Fletcher covers and gets three.

Schiavone calling it a decisive win for the DCF was an understatement. Good lord that was squash-tastic. 1.5*

Winners – The Don Callis Family (Fletcher sheer drop brainbuster on Mansoor)

Lexy Nair is backstage with The Outrunners and Dalton Castle. The Outrunners want the Trios titles but Castle wonders how they could top last week‘s performance. The Outrunners pick up Castle, who enjoys this, and march out of the room. We go to commercials.

Lexy Nair is now backstage with Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata. They’re attacked by the Triangle of Madness and left in a heap.

Dax Harwood vs Kevin Knight

Knight is accompanied by Speedball Mike Bailey and Willow Nightingale. FTR are with Stoke, as usual. Harwood gets the initial advantage but Knight fires up and dumps Harwood to the floor. Harwood recovers but eats some arm-drags from Knight. Knight slips a Harwood charge but Harwood bails to the floor before Knight can do anything further. Harwood drops Knight with an elbow but Knight responds with chops. They slug it out in a corner and Knight ends up hitting a clothesline and an over-the-top rope cross-body. They slug it out on the apron and Knight holds off a piledriver attempt before backdropping Harwood on the apron. Harwood hoists Knight and they tumble over the barrier into the crowd as picture-in-picture commercials begin.

Harwood is first out of the crowd, and he pops Knight with a forearm when he staggers up. Harwood again prevents Knight from re-entering and then distracts the ref. Cash Wheeler hops the barrier to ram Knight head-first into it. After a full commercial break Knight has made it to the apron and hits Harwood with atop rope sunset flip that leads into a DDT. Knight’s cover gets two. Knight ascends and he and Harwood slug it out. Knight misses a reverse frog splash as Harwood rolls him up for two. They slug it out with forearms and Knight manages a sit-out powerbomb as both guys are down.

Knight gets a roll-up for two and a backslide for two. Harwood hits a slingshot sit-out powerbomb and covers for two. Knight hits a springboard elbow and when Wheeler tries to interfere he gets dropped by Bailey with a superkick and springboard moonsault. Stoke goes into the ring and gets the double bird from Knight before he wallops Harwood with the UFO splash. Knight covers and gets three.

It got a bit lazy towards the end with false finishes but this was a good match within the context of the story they’re telling with JetSpeed and FTR. Knight’s offense was more grounded than usual and you got what you always get from Harwood in terms of quality. I’d say this is worth watching the highlights, if you’re of a mind. 3.5*

Winner – Kevin Knight (UFO splash)

Post-match sees Nightingale and Stoke going at each other as Stoke repeatedly pokes her in the chest to emphasize his points. FTR save Stoke from a gutwrench suplex as Megan Bayne attacks Nightingale from behind. Stoke tosses powder into Bailey’s eyes and Bayne hits the Decapitator on Nightingale. Bayne and Penelope Ford join with FTR as they stand tall over Nightingale.

SkyFlight lost to the Don Callis Family but they are focusing on Shane Taylor Promotion‘s ROH Trios titles. Taylor tells them to bring it on. We go to commercials.

AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander makes her way to the ring as Schiavone announces a mixed tag for next week with FTR/Bayne vs JetSpeed/Nightingale. Timeless Toni Storm makes her entrance. Statlander says they need to talk so Storm lays down in the ring, as does Statlander. Statlander says she’s been waiting to wrestle Storm for a long time since they’ve never met one on one. She compliments Storm for giving her a shot at the title but promises to fight hard to keep the title. Storm says her heart was broken when she lost the title but there’s no one more deserving of being champion than Statlander. Storm says the belt is in her blood and there’s nothing more personal to her. They shake hands but neither releases. They decide to fight now but are immediately attacked by the Triangle of Madness. Thekla grabs the mic and says she isn’t finished with Statlander and Storm. Harley Cameron jumps Thekla and Storm and Statlander dump the Triangle to the floor. Schiavone announces a trios match between all these folks for Collision Homecoming.

Highlights of the confrontation between Samoa Joe and AEW Men’s World Champion Hangman Page that set up their match for WrestleDream. They will be face to face on Dynamite Tuesday night.

The Don Callis Family (Rocky Romero, Hechicero and Lance Archer) vs Orange Cassidy and The Paragon (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong)

O’Reilly and Hechicero start and O’Reilly grabs a leg bar. Hechicero escapes and gets a head-scissors but O’Reilly escapes and they go face to face. Hechicero goes to the ropes after O’Reilly grabs another leg bar. Strong and Romero tag in. They trade chops and Romero hits a rana. Strong fires up and dumps Romero into the babyface corner as O’Reilly tags back in. O’Reilly hits a bunch of knees and Cassidy tags in. Strong, who has been not into teaming with Cassidy throughout the entire show, tags in to stop Cassidy’s violent chop assault on Romero.

O’Reilly and Strong hit double team offense on Romero and then take on a charging Archer. Archer hits a double clothesline on the Paragon and then catches Cassidy during a cross-body attempt. Archer dumps Cassidy on top of Strong and then crushes O’Reilly with a black hole slam. Archer officially tags in and tosses Strong around as we go to commercials.

Back live with Archer standing on Strong’s ankle while glaring at O’Reilly and Cassidy. Cassidy puts his Ray-Bayns on so Archer charges over and wallops him off the apron. Strong fires up and dumps a charging Hechicero with a backdrop. Cassidy tags in as McGuinness calls him “the King of Sloth Style”. Archer comes in and is unaffected by Cassidy’s shotgun dropkick. Romero sneaks in and rolls up Cassidy for two.

Cassidy pounds away at Romero with a slap and some chops and they slug it out mid-ring. After O’Reilly blind tags in Cassidy hits Stundog Millionaire on Romero before O’Reilly crushes him with a forearm. Hechicero charges in and O’Reilly hits a series of knees but Romero sneaks back in and rolls up O’Reilly for two. Archer charges back in and eats a huge forearm from Cassidy and a knee from Strong. Strong and O’Reilly hit TOTAL ELIMINATION on Archer and Cassidy wipes out Hechicero with a forearm. O’Reilly hits a tornado DDT and then slaps an armbar on Romero, who immediately taps.

Your standard party match here with the babyfaces triumphing in the end. I have no idea why Callis keeps Romero around in kayfabe, quite frankly. Dude loses ALL THE TIME. However, it’s good to see Orange Cassidy back and he shook off some more rust before the big showdown with PAC at Dynamite. Fun match with like zero psychology, which knocks it down for me a bit. 3*

Winners – Paragon and Orange Cassidy (O’Reilly armbar on Romero)

Post-match sees the first DCF crew re-emerge to stare down the winners as Schiavone runs down the card for Dynamite. Kyle Fletcher will defend his title against Kyle O’Reilly next week as well in THE BATTLE OF THE KYLES. Schiavone wraps things up and we’re out.

Collision is so weird from week to week that it actually becomes charming to figure out what the hell will happen next. There’s always going to be the Callis Family stuff since they have the TNT title, and the Death Riders have been around a bunch, but then you get stuff like the Knight-Harwood clash and remember that there’s always going to be something to enjoy. They’re sprinting to set up WrestleDream but the build is decent so far. Next week is a big week for the company with Dynamite going head to head with the NXT-TNA Showdown. I’m sure there won’t be any takes on that whatsoever. Thumbs slightly up for me tonight because it’s not every week you see CHA-CHA CHARLIE, the man is a special attraction okay?!
