Morning Daily News Update
By Conor Renshaw on 29 August 2025
Morning, everyone!
It’s Friday again! But before we can commence with weekend festivities, we first need our Morning Daily News fix! Not a lot of new stuff from the blog yesterday, but we do have Scott Herrin’s newest 1987 Best of Memphis Wrestling Yearbook, and Garth Holmberg’s latest ROH TV review.
Potential new addition to WWE Clash in Paris card
Dave Meltzer spoke on the Wrestling Observer Radio recently about how WWE is in talks about adding Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre to the WWE Clash in Paris card for August 31. Meltzer also said that if Orton vs. McIntyre doesn’t take place at Clash in Paris, it will still take place on a different show before plans are put in place to have McIntyre challenge Cody Rhodes for the WWE Title. They must be trying to beat Orton and John Cena’s record for the most number of singles matches, because if this match does happen at Clash, it would make it ten times McIntyre and Orton have gone one-on-one in televised WWE matches.
Hulk Hogan’s Widow Preparing To File Medical Malpractice Lawsuit
Hulk Hogan’s widow, Sky Daily, is reportedly preparing to file a medical malpractice lawsuit against at least one of Hogan’s doctors following his death on July 24. Hogan’s official cause of death is cardiac arrest, but Daily believes that Hogan’s phrenic nerve was compromised during his neck surgery he had in May, as he experienced numerous complications in the weeks leading up to his death post-op.
Jim Ross Re-Signs with AEW, Addresses Potential WWE Return
Jim Ross has confirmed on an episode of his podcast that he has signed a one-year contract extension with AEW. Ross said that he “loves working with Tony Khan and the entire AEW team” and that the working environment within the company is positive, creative, and he feels valued. Ross also addressed whether he would consider returning to WWE, but said that he is not interested in going back and that “my home is with AEW now.”
Tony Khan Comments On Chris Jericho’s AEW Absence and Future
Rumours have been swirling that Chris Jericho may be leaving AEW, as he has not competed for the promotion since Dynasty on April 6, and was written off of TV on the following Dynamite. The rumours have suggested that Jericho could be returning to WWE when his AEW contract expires in December. On the ROH Death Before Dishonor media call yesterday, Tony Khan was asked about Jericho’s status and praised Y2J, saying that AEW wouldn’t be where it is now without him. Khan went on to say that he hopes that when the timing is right, they can have Chris back working for AEW and ROH.
