And happy Friday! The weekend is here once again, but until we can all kick back and relax, we’ve got another round of Morning Daily News! We’ve also got some new stuff on the blog as Phrederic has posted the review of the evening show for Marigold’s Dream Star Grand Prix, and Garth Holmberg uploaded a review of the latest episode of ROH TV.
Jim Ross Sets Date For Return To AEW Broadcast Booth
Good ol’ JR has shared that he will be coming back to the AEW commentary booth for Forbidden Door in London, England, to “call a couple of matches.” Ross returned to commentary after undergoing surgery for a recent battle he had with colon cancer at All In: Texas, and also said that he suffered a bad fall in his hotel room just days before the event.
Former ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham Suffers Two Strokes
Former Ring of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham has revealed that he suffered from two strokes just a few days ago. Gresham detailed the scary experience in a Twitter post and said that he woke up unable to move the left side of his body, and struggled to speak and see. Gresham managed to call 911 and was taken to the hospital by paramedics and received an MRI scan that revealed that the 37-year-old had suffered from two strokes. Thankfully, he has since received numerous tests that have come back clear and believes he will only be out of action for two to four weeks until he is cleared by his neurologist.
Jake Hager Announces Retirement From Pro Wrestling
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jake Hager has announced that he is essentially retired from professional wrestling. Speaking on an episode of the Rulebreakers with Saraya podcast, Hager said that he has started a trucking company and that he is “getting out of wrestling.”
King Of The Hill Is Coming To WWE SmackDown
“What the hell is going on here? That’s not Olympic-style wrestling!”
The legendary cartoon King of the Hill is set to have a crossover with SmackDown on the August 15 episode as part of a massive multi-platform marketing campaign for the return of the animated series on Hulu. The partnership between King of the Hill and WWE will see a custom ring canvas featuring King of the Hill signage being used for the show, and King of the Hill’s “digital creative” will be shown throughout the arena during the event.
