Evening Daily News Update

By Garth Holmberg on 23 June 2025

Good evening, Doomers! It’s Monday and you know what that means! Monday Night Raw on Netflix with the final matches of the Semi-Finals for the King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments and winners advancing to Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia… assuming the show still takes place. We’ve got Cody Rhodes vs Jey Uso for the men, Jade Cargill vs Roxanne Perez for the women, Becky Lynch defending the Intercontinental Title against Bayley, Bron Breakker vs Penta, and appearances from Goldberg and Seth Rollins on the books.

Jabroniville has a new Joshi Spotlight for us to enjoy, Rock Star Gary brings us the January 30th, 1988 episode of World Class TV, What the World Was Watching highlights the February 26, 1994 episode of Superstars, and Alex has the latest chapter in 5-Star Book Reviews. Kat will be along later tonight with all the details of Monday Night Raw, and if I missed anyone, then I’m going to open a premium text message service for you to contact me directly, so those mistakes never happen again.

WWE Production Employees Stuck in Qatar
Well, this is certainly not the kind of news I was hoping to put out there. Hopefully everyone is OK.

Asuka Opens Up About Recovery and Return to the Ring
I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say it’s good to see Asuka back on TV, but more importantly, that she’s doing well away from the ring.

YouTube Spotlight: Goldberg’s Rookie Year
Enjoy 51-minutes of Goldberg covering his first year in WCW, including matches against Roadblock, Disco Inferno, John Nord, and THAT MENG MATCH (if you don’t know, you’ll see for yourself). It’s an easy watch and makes you question how someone didn’t try to sabotage him before he could rise to the top. That seems like the easiest Because WCW possible and it didn’t happen. If you need a little more Goldberg, WWE dropped a 2-hour collection of Goldberg matches on their main channel late last year, which can be found HERE.

The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. We’re all sorry to see Tyrese Haliburton suffer a terrible Achilles injury in the first quarter. Shout out to TJ McConnell for trying to put the team on his back, being the only Pacer to score for a stretch of about 11-minutes (and it’s not like he went crazy scoring 20 over that stretch, it was modest). Another shout out to Isaiah Hartenstein, beloved member of the Knicks roster for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons before getting a hell of a payday in free agency, on getting that chip. The NBA Draft is only a few days away, Kevin Durant got traded for a goon and some 2nd round picks, and now we’ve got the NFL Season just a stone’s throw away. Until then, BASEBALL, BASEBALL, BASEBALL.

As always, keep it clean and come out dooming. – GH (No Longer Obi Toppin’s #1 Fan)
