Evening Daily News Update

By Garth Holmberg on 20 June 2025

Good evening, Doomers! It’s Friday, and you know what that means! We’ve got Smackdown and all it’s three hour glory! Sami Zayn takes on Randy Orton and Alexa Bliss battles Asuka in King and Queen of the Ring Semi-Finals action, and R-Truth Ron Killings faces John Cena in the rematch that we really didn’t need, but we’re going to squeeze another 5-minute quasi-squash out of a guy who hasn’t been a legitimate threat to anyone above the 24/7 Title in almost 15 years.

Last night was one of the quieter nights around the blog, so if you missed it, you could read all about the latest episode of TNA Impact. You can also check out the latest and not-so-greatest episode of ROH TV, and Monday Night Raw is finally back on the schedule with What the World Was Watching.

Goldberg Says He’s Sorry
You might find it hard to believe, but Bill Goldberg has shown remorse over the last quarter-century over the injuries that most give credit for ending the in-ring career of Bret Hart… and it probably didn’t help Bret kept working for 3 more weeks and getting his bell rung even more.

Eli Manning Attacks Tom Brady
Eli looked to improve his personal record against the Great Tom Brady during a FanaticsFest Event. That’s what Tom gets for coming out to Cody Rhodes’ music!

YouTube Spotlight: Retrospective with Kurt Angle
Kurt Angle sits down to relive the biggest moments of his WWE Hall of Fame career, including epic battles against The Rock, Shawn Michaels and Shane McMahon, the part he played in John Cena’s debut and much more!

Not-YouTube Spotlight: The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior
Re-visit the most pathetic hit job every produced for home video release, where WWE filmed candid interviews meant to bury one person as much as possible for some of the lamest reasons imaginable (and some pulled out of thin air… remember the altered house show poster that suggested Warrior was WWF Champion in 1996?!).

The Indiana Pacers curb-stomped the Oklahoma City Thunder, which means we’re getting the first Game 7 for an NBA Finals in nearly 10 years, and that means Sunday night, I can finally ditch this silly name about being Obi Toppin’s #1 Fan. It’s hard to believe, but we’re already approaching the All-Star break for the MLB season, which shows just how long these playoffs drag along. Almost long enough for a Great White to legitimately travel from the beaches of Massachusetts to the Bahamas, unless a Voodoo Priest like Papa Shango magically transported it in a revenge plot against an obnoxious family.

I have the Nintendo Switch 2 to enjoy, so I’ll probably be making very few appearances here tonight (waits for the pop to die down), so keep it clean and come out dooming. – GH (#1 Toppin’s Obi Fan)
