Evening Daily News Update – June 13th, 2025

By Garth Holmberg on 13 June 2025

Good Evening Lagies and Genglefins. It’s Friday Night, and you know what that means! Friday Night Smackdown is on the menu, which means more qualifying matches for the King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments. The men will be featured in two matches, with Cody, Damian Priest, Shinsuke Nakamura and Andrade competing in one, and Randy Orton, Carmelo Hayes, LA Knight and Aleister Black in the other. For the women we’ve got Charlotte, Alexa Bliss, Candice LeRae and Chelsea Green. That should be a wonderful trainwreck.

Scott II gives us a detailed look at last night’s episode of TNA Impact, and hey, Ring of Honorexists, and a certain fan of Obi Toppin would really appreciate you giving it a read (it has Evil Uno! EVIL UNO!!!!). If you’re not interested in the modern stuff, Mike reviews Zero1 vs All Japan, and What the World Was Watching continues with the February 13th, 1994 episode of Challenge.

Jey Uso Announced for the King of the Ring Tournament
Uso will fill the last spot of the opening round. Maybe this is his Little Mac redemption after losing to the big boss (man, is Gunther big) and needing to work his way back to the top of the mountain… or he can do a job to Sami Zayn in the Finals and Rikishi will whine about it for a month.

Private Party Contract Expiring Soon
I’m sure there will be plenty of room on NWA Power for them. Maybe MLW too. Since dropping the Tag Team Titles, they’ve vanished from TV (and even ROH!). I guess the rub the Young Bucks gave them was as good as when Chris Jericho “put over” Action Andretti.

YouTube Spotlight: The Shield Battle it out in FCW
Before they united and made their way to WWE as The Shield, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose were rivals in Florida Championship Wrestling. Watch the future Hounds of Justice collide in this incredible Triple Threat Match from February 2012.

Paul Skenes pitched another gem this afternoon, giving up zero runs and getting no decision. If I’m Skenes, I’m on the phone with my agent demanding to be traded right f*cking now… The Philadelphia Phillies continue their struggling ways, posting 7 losses in their last 10 games and falling behind the Mets by 5.5 games… The Toronto Blue Jays got hot and jumped into 2nd place of the AL East, nipping at the heels of the overhyped, overrated Yankees and their Superstar, Mr. May Jr.

The Edmonton Oilers came back from an early 3-0 hole and nearly LOL’ed themselves with less than 30-seconds left in regulation, but with some luck, snatched a victory from the Panthers to even the series at 2 games apiece. The NBA Finals continues tonight, with the Indiana Pacers looking to jump to a 3-1 lead as they host Oklahoma City.

Enjoy your Friday Night and your Father’s Day Weekend. Treat each other with respect and have a good time. I might check out the best Friday the 13th movie tonight if I don’t pass out too early (Part V, of course). – GH (Obi Toppin’s #1 Superfan!!!!!!!)
