Hi Scott,
I know you’ve had some rough times lately. I hope things are going better for you.

So, how did Honky get away with holding the IC title hostage relatively unscathed without being screwed in Montreal, pinned by a spider-lady, or fired live on Nitro? Did his friendship with Hogan really keep him that untouchable? I feel like Vince would have done something Vincey, but Honky kept his job and his IC title record stood for decades.

Two points:

  1. Honky was an expert bullshitter and Vince respected that.
  2. Honky made money for Vince and Vince always booked based on business. Plus he knew Honky would go out and lose when the time was right.
