Evening Daily News Update – May 20th, 2025
By Garth Holmberg on 20 May 2025
From the pages of the BOD Magazine, here’s UPDATE…
Good evening, Doom Squad. It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means! NXT is on tap for you WWE enthusiasts as we approach their Battleground special on Sunday. We’ve got some news around the rasslin’ world for you, and other goodies…
Indiana Pacers “Superstar” Part of New DLC Pack
Tyrese Haliburton, the fake wanna-be All-Star (Wally Szczerbiak’s words) and most overrated player in the league (as voted by his peers) will be featured in a DLC Dunk and Destruction pack for WWE 25. Hopefully we can get confirmation that Jalen Brunson will be included, to build off their rivalry and Smackdown face-to-face from last Summer.
Ring of Honor will be on YouTube this Friday Night starting at 7pm EST, as well as being part of the Honor Club paywall that limits the audience to about 33 people. If anyone wants to make a donation to the cause, I’ll gladly watch and recap ROH every week so you can enjoy my mind melting from the dozens (AND DOZENS) of mid-card filler matches and quasi-squashes.
The NBA Western Conference Finals tips off tonight, with the Minnesota Timberwolves visiting the Seattle Supersonics Oklahoma City Thunder. The league probably wants Anthony Edwards to have a good showing since Zion and Ja Morant flamed out as potential faces of the new generation, but SGA is likely being crowned the MVP, so don’t sleep on the Thunder.
Juan Slow-Mo is in the news for his lack of hustle and producing a rather ordinary stat line as we approach June. Looks like the Mets overpaid (again), this time for a guy who doesn’t have the luxury of batting with Aaron Judge protecting him in the lineup. The good news (for Juan) is these are guaranteed contracts in the MLB, so unless he pulls a Wander Franco, the dude is getting paid his 3-billion-dollar contract, even if he doesn’t get another hit. (I promise to stop targeting poor Juan. I’ll make fun of Noted Idiot Aaron Boone sooner than later)
RIP George Wendt. We’re pouring one out for you Norm. Say hello to Harry the Hat for us.
In case you missed it (SHAME ON YOU!), here’s Kat’s recap of last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Great to see everyone showing some love and support.
In personal news, I’m going to give a run at the original TMNT on NES tonight. No save states or rewinds. It’s my raw skill against frustrating, sometimes unfair, programming. *Just gotta farm for scrolls in Level 3 and hope to God I don’t accidentally walk into a pick-up of boomerangs or throwing stars. This is being typed an hour ahead of publishing, so by the time you read this, I’ve probably already rage quit and cried.
As always, have a good night, keep it clean, and come out dooming.
