Evening Daily News Update – May 19th, 2025
By Garth Holmberg on 19 May 2025
From the pages of the BOD Magazine, here’s UPDATE…
Welcome Doomers, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday. We’ve got a lot to unpack tonight, so grab your favorite carbonated beverage and brace yourselves…
Netflix Gets Raw
We’ve got Main Event Jey taking on Bron Breakker in a Non-Title Match, A.J. Styles and Penta take on Pinn Balor and JD McDontGoogleMe, an appearance from Logan Paul (BOO) and we’ve got two Money in the Bank Qualifiers as well… Becky Lynch, Roxanne Perez and Natalya will compete in one triple-threat, while the other features Rhea Ripley, Zoey Stark and THE RETURNING KAIRI SANE (YAY)!
Saturday Night’s alright for fighting, but the broadcast of AEW Collision mysteriously lost its feed. We here have worked around the clock to find the answers, and the best we could come up with is some Pizza Delivery Boy spilled beer on the equipment. Hopefully this doesn’t come back to bite us in the ass in a thousand years, but we’ll all be dead by then, so it’s the future’s problem.
We’re Talkin’ Baseball…
The much-anticipated Subway Series between the Yankees and Mets took center stage, with Juan Soto making his return to Yankee Stadium and doing his best 1919 White Sox impression… Across the country, the Angels not only swept the Dodgers, but kicked them out of their home stadium and took the name off the lease… the Colorado Rockies still stink… The Philadelphia Phillies Jose Alvarado was busted for using PEDs and will serve an 80 game suspension. Who knows what other players on the Phillies roster are running around with a needle in their butt.
R.I.P. Toronto Maple Leafs
In Hockey news, the Toronto Maple Leafs went full Maple Leafs last night, losing Game 7 to the Florida Panthers in heartbreaking fashion… a score of 6-1. Toronto continues a string of unfortunate performances in clutch situations, dating back to the days before the New York Knicks won their first AND last NBA Championship. Good luck to the Panthers, and whoever the Western Conference produces. My Rangers didn’t make the postseason, so I’m mentally checked out.
We’ve got a long lineup of content for you today for all your different tastes (though most of that flavor is 30-40 years old)… Scott takes a look at some forgotten AWA content from January 1988, Phrederic brings us All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Champion Carnival, Rock Star Gary has us covered with World Class wrapping up 1987, Jabroniville is back with another edition of Joshi Spotlight, LScisco continues his deep dive into 1994 with the January 22nd Superstars, and yours truly has a new Fan-Cam Files as the WWF comes to MSG 2-weeks before SummerSlam ’93. Don’t like wrestling? Well, Mr. Mega Bucks has a special edition of (NOT on) MeTV Tooned In with a look at Batfink. Now to check eBay to see if there are Batfink pogs for me to add to my worthless collection.
Beginning tonight, our own Kat Bourne will take over the duties of covering Monday Night Raw, so look forward to that recap late tonight or early tomorrow.
With that all said, keep it clean, and come out dooming.
