Piper vs Lawler

Hey Scott,
Considering how great Piper and Lawler were at different points of their career than the abysmal 1994 King of the Ring you recently reviewed, at what point do you think they could have had their best match? I'm guessing a heel Piper vs. super babyface Lawler in Memphis (maybe as Andy Kaufman's annoying friend in '82). Or would it have always been a mess in the ring because of how they worked once the bell rang?
Lawler coming into the Mid-Atlantic or Georgia territory as a heel in 1983 and facing the red hot babyface Piper would have been FIRE.
