Fritz Von Erich
By Scott Keith on 24 October 2024
Scott,
I've read many comments on how much of an absolute trashbag Fritz Von Erich was, and I've seen The Iron Claw etc etc.
Is there a definitive article / book / interview which goes into detail about what exactly constituted his track record?
And from your own knowledge, what's the worst black mark on his copybook?
Gary Hart's book is the best one I've read on the subject. It's just a great book in general anyway. For me, Fritz's low point was putting his injured and non-athletic son Mike into the ring when he was no longer in a state where he could function as a pro wrestler, just to prolong the Von Erich gravy train. By all accounts, Mike didn't want to be a wrestler anyway, and after his near-death experience he shouldn't have ever wrestled again. But he did and paid the price.
