The problem with Moxley and the BCC against AEW

By Scott Keith on 19 October 2024

The more I think about this angle with the BCC declaring war against AEW, the more counterproductive it seems.

Mox has been pretty vague about his exact goals, but from his promos about too much singing and dancing, it seems that he thinks AEW has been overly silly or mediocre.

Okay, so then here's the problem: if AEW has been bad, why should I continue watching as a fan? The BCC is still only a small part of the product, so why should I stick with a company when the message is that it needs an overhaul because it sucks as is? On the other hand, if AEW really is great and everything is fine, what kind of relatable or coherent goal does Moxley even have? What is the goal?

At least with the nWo, it was simple. They were basically anti-tradition colonizers, but the focus throughout the angle wasn't that WCW was lacking or bad per se. It was just that they wanted to take over and create their own promotion out of it.

I don't know. Hopefully, they pivot with a clear goal that isn't predicated on the state of AEW being sub-par.
I agree. I hate the angles where the hook is supposed to be “Man, this show is terrible”. They've already done a couple of them and the result has been attendance dropping and the company feeling increasingly cold each time.
