About that Massacre

Hate to say i told you so, BUT I TOLD YOU SO! I am glad Tony got the bag before these last two weeks, but I hope this is wake up call for him. Those ratings yesterday were shocking. Even Dave couldn't spin it. The product is at an all time low, the weekly shows are like watching the worst episodes of Thunder, and they don't have one solid angle that's makes anyone excited to tune in each week. You can easily skip weekly TV and just watch the PPVs, which is usually the only thing that you can rely on being halfway decent. There are no big names currently out there they can bring in. No offense to Bobby Lashley but he is no ratings savior. They burned thru most of their big matches, like Will vs Ricochet or Danielson. My question to you is, where did it all go wrong for AEW?
I would say bringing in CM Punk. Up until that point they truly were a challenger brand with tons of goodwill from the fans, and it really felt like they had so much momentum. Punk coming in I think inflated their ego and gave them false confidence. People like you and Alvarez were predicting there were about to cream Raw in the ratings, with Jericho also openly predicting they would prob regularly start beating Raw in the demo. They got cocky with that first Rampage rating, and it's been nothing but downhill since with only a couple bright spots ever since. You can't bring in a guy like Punk without having a solid infrastructure in place, because he isn't gonna be like these other people who don't care if it's a shitshow and are just happy to get a check. Punk noticed all the cracks they had in their foundation and then aired it in a scrum when he had enough. Add in WWE getting hotter than ever and fixing their product so AEW wasn't as needed for lapse fans who hated Vince, while themselves becoming more like a version of WWE that drove fans away originally. You really could never have predicting it getting this bad. Well some us could, but we were just accused of trolling.
Just wait until Punk speaks up against abortion bans in Florida and gets stabbed to death by seven crazy women who are recovering from ACL tears. Then we’ll see who’s laughing.
