Larger Than Life

By Scott Keith on 18 March 2024

Hi Scott,

What with the advent of the larger-than-life holograms (such as the ABBA ones) which can replicate the looks and movements of celebrities either too old or too dead to perform anymore, do you think they’d ever apply that technology to wrestling? If so, how soon after that would WWE start giving Saudi Arabia all the dead wrestler matches they could handle (Warrior Vs. Yokozuna for example)? Which matches would you like to see either re-enacted or held for the first time? I’d like Bret hart Vs. Kurt Angle off the top of my head but there’s a multitude of others, I’m sure.
Yeah but it can only replicate things that have happened already. It can't really come up with an AI self-aware version of Bret Hart and have it work a match. So at best you'd get in-ring replays of matches that have already happened and been heavily documented enough to have footage of them readily available. At which point it's like…why? What's the point if you can just watch the real thing on TV? Unless there's a market for a live show with people seeing a holographic version of the Bruno v. Hansen cage match from the 70s and Savage v. Steamboat on the undercard. Maybe there is?
