Jerk that Curtain
By Scott Keith on 29 February 2024
Was reading your Nitro review the other day and you mentioned how Kidman went back to curtain jerking a show after being pushed hard during the ppv the night before (that 2000 Nitro era is unfamiliar to me as well).
When did the narrative change from not being a bad thing to be labeled as a curtain jerker in the industry? Was it Bret vs Owen at Mania 10 or something before that?
It changed once the business became about the brand and not individual drawing power. Now everyone is just part of a show and it doesn’t matter if you open a Premium Live Event ™ with a World title match because everyone is just happy to be part of the WWE machine.
