Andre The Giant was physically finished by the time of his big Heel turn in the 80’s
In an alternate universe where the miracle back surgery works and he can move a lot better, can you see him getting an actual run as Heel Champ at some point?
Maybe he wins on The Main Event and Hogan wins the belt back at Mania IV?
I think Andre was only something like 41/42 when he went Heel. If he wasn’t physically so bad then maybe Vince considers letting him actually have the belt properly for a bit?
No, he was around for most of 1989 as a regular guy, and it pretty much killed his aura having him on TV that much. Andre was always a special attraction first and foremost, and being a touring champion would have destroyed whatever was left of his magic.
