Does Tony Khan not understand what got both Cole and Strong over?

It feels like Tony has a bad memory. We already saw Adam Cole as the serious threat version of a top heel going for Hangman's title. It…didn't really get over. It wasn't terrible programming, but it was a forgettable feud.
Roderick Strong was having good matches from his debut in AEW. No one ever cared.
It was Roddy yelling “Adaaaaaam!” with a neck brace on and Adam Cole doing clotheslines to waiters and throwing balls at children in silly vignettes that made him feel like a top guy.
Adam Cole with a shattered ankle cutting “menacing” promos while a serious-looking Roderick Strong and his indie wrestling friends stand there with a bored-looking Wardlow is not how I see anyone getting over like that again.
I agree! Strong was more over than he’s been in years with the act and even Taven was tolerable with the Neck Strong giraffe nonsense. Generic bad guy crew is a dead end.
