The Wrestling Soundtrack

By Scott Keith on 12 January 2024

Seeing that AEW played (and kept playing) Jericho’s music to drown out any possible booing made me think that playing music over wrestling matches is the clear next step to modernising the product. Having dudes in masks and cowboys hats shouting over matches is very 1990’s. Commentary should be scrapped. Chuck it in the same bin that “guys with deep voices talking over movie trailers” went in.

Clearly, wrestlers should expand their music from just an entrance theme to a full soundtrack. You can have sad music when a wrestler is crawling around selling an injury (like the music in Platoon when Willem Defoe is dying) and triumphant music for comebacks. When someone makes a save, can play “You Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story. Be creative.

I’d appreciate your support in getting this potentially game-changing idea out there. You can even take a partial credit if you want.

I didn't get where I am by taking PARTIAL credit for game changing ideas, pal.
