To mangle a Kent Brockman quote: I for one welcome our new Kingdom Overlords
By Scott Keith on 31 December 2023
I know, MJF is supposed to be a good guy and all, but I have to admit from a loncathartic standpoint, Cole revealing himself to be the Devil with the MJF revenge squad (or the Kingdom or Undisputed Era or whatever they are going to be called) beating the crap out of Max after he loses the title to Samoa Joe, is super sweet. Same as it was when Cole (who I will admit not really liking until he ended up in AEW and had to develop as a character beyond being yet another Shawn Michaels clone with plus twelve plot armor) turned on the Young Bucks a while back.
And while he's no Avery Good or Matt Cardona or even Great Muta, Cole now has purpose and quite frankly, AEW now has their own Marauders to lay waste to the company and cleanse the vineyard that so DESPERATELY needs cleansing.
First step is to end the farce that is the BCC. Cole and his crew need to rip out Moxley's ratings cancer loser brigade stem and root, if not for the fans then for Bryan Danielson who is being utterly wasted needs a full-on reset if not a full on makeover to remind us of the clean cut, borderline insane nutjob we all fell in love with in the early 2010s. Send Moxley back north or to rehab and Claudio too, since he's been wasted by AEW. At least in WWE, Claudio can reunite with Sheamus to flesh out the tag team division.
Second, unify the AEW and ROH titles at long last and throw Kingston's new belts into a smelting pot since the Continental Classic has been the worst tournament in wrestling since Brawl For All.
Third, lets start seeing Cole and company beat up Tony Khan. Everyone hates him so let's see him go through a plate glass window ala Rey Mysterio being thrown like a lawn dart by Kevin Nash. Just to establish that Cole's not playing around or putting up with Tony's crappy leadership.
Fourth, let's see Wardlow brutalize both Jericho and Sammy Guevara while Cole and Roderick send the rest of Jericho's latest goon squad packing and rid AEW of Jericho and his latest Hellion brigade that have long outstayed their welcome.
People have always said Adam Cole is supposed to be the future of wrestling, a great diamond in the rough who just needs his chance to shine. So let's give it to him and his Marauders; his Polaris (Wardlow), his Scalphunter and Harpoon (Tavern and Bennett), his Archlight (Britt Baker), his Scrambler (Roderick Strong), and when he gets medically cleared, his Sabretooth (Kyle O'Reilly). AEW is at the point where it desperately needs a Mutant Massacre after CM Punk got the Madeylyne Pryor treatment at Tony's hand, to burn down the old and bring forth something new and give us a sense of excitement as we no longer know what's going to happen next. .
