Bret Hart at Starrcade 97

What should WCW have done with Bret at Starrcade folllwing Survivor Series 97? Should he have been the ref for the Hogan-Sting match instead of Nick Patrick? Should they have not debuted him on Nitro and had him debut there?
They should have had him come out on Nitro and say “Everyone saw that I'm still the World champion” and then challenge the eventual winner of Sting-Hogan to face him and determine the real World champion. You literally had a guy with a legitimate claim to being the opposition's top champion walk onto your show and they did NOTHING with it.
