Welcome To The Slaughterhouse

Hey at least it’s not a CM Punk question,
right?
right?
Anyway…
Say Vince had decided that Sgt. Slaughter being a GI Joe would
have meant even more exposure for the WWF and thus didn’t make him choose
between the two.

If Sarge had stayed, how far up the card could he have risen?
Obviously, he wouldn’t have gotten a sniff of the World Title as long as Hogan
had it but could he have reached IC level? Might he have formed a tag team with
Corporal Kirschner (or ideally someone better)?

Would he still have been the choice as Iraqi turncoat heel in
1990 or would he have worn out his welcome by then and wound up in the AWA
anyway? (Or the NWA as a mentor for Ranger Ross maybe?)

Kirschner was created as a character specifically to replace Slaughter so it’s not likely he would have gotten a shot to team with Sarge. I feel like Sarge would have burned out the Sheik stuff and then ended up in the role eventually occupied by Duggan, the lovable flag waving midcard star.
