My big takeaway

I’ve always heard about wrestling fans who only know WWE and don’t follow it online. They’re vaguely aware of NXT, but know basically nothing of AEW, Impact, Japan or anything else. I don’t personally know any of these people because I hang out in extremely online, extremely wrestling-obsessed places like this.

My big takeaway from Punk’s return is that the number of people who only know WWE is much bigger than I thought. The breathless accounts of jaws dropping and “hell froze over” and “never say never” all felt like a little much because I just saw Punk fucking do all of this not that long ago in AEW. Like, it all already happened. This is a supreme Own Goal, but it confounds me that there are wrestling fans who aren’t obsessive. Who are these people?

Nobody I want on MY timeline! It’s true though, it blows my mind too.
