Bret After WM12

Hey Scott.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but what happens to Bret if he still has an active contract after Wrestlemania 12? Does he get shuffled down the totem pole to feud with the Goon and TL Hopper? Do things between him and Shawn just implode sooner?

I just find it interesting because Nash and Hall will be gone soon, Shawn is the top guy, and Undertaker gets tied up with the Mankind program. If Bret is still on RAW every week I don't know what's left for him that has any appeal.

Bret was a very smart guy who was very protective of his spot and the writing was already on the wall about Vince wanting to phase him down and make Shawn the top guy, which is probably a big motivating factor in why Bret decided to stay away and try acting for a while. Although to this day I don't know why he didn't just take WCW's money and give it a shot. But yeah, I think that if he had stayed, it would have hurt his own legacy because Vince was gonna keep seeing him as the guy to stabilize the World title for a month before moving onto his next “project” and really there was nothing for Bret to be doing in the midcard that was worthwhile at that point.
