Brock Lesnar in the 80s

By Scott Keith on 10 October 2023

Hi Scott,

Brock Lesnar would be a star in any era of wrestling. I think that he would be the biggest star in the 80s though. Who could you see him having great matches with in the 80s, and for what organizations? Is his style too real for what the WWF and its style of wrestling at the time?

I actually don't see him being a big star in the 80s. I think he'd get turned into a victim of the month for Hogan if he made it to the WWF, but I can't see Hulk taking the suplexes. His charisma and style was uniquely suited to a post-UFC world and he probably wouldn't have been fast-tracked in a Hogan world and would have ended up getting frustrated and leaving in that environment. I think he would have done better in the 70s as a top guy for Verne Gagne or someone who could hang with Bob Backlund, but again the business wasn't generally open to pushing someone that young at that point.
